Fall Term Recitals at Silva Piano Studios

Student rectials will be held:

Sunday, Dec 6 at 1 PM and 3:30 PM

Sunday, Dec 13 at 1PM and 3:30 PM

Public is welcome, refreshments following and plenty of parking in the back and front gravel parking area!

Fall Term 2009 Ending

Lessons for Fall Term finish Monday, December 12. Make up lesson week begins Monday, December 14th

Winter/Summer Term Begins Monday, January 11

Spring recitals will be on April 25 and May 2.

Master Class Format a Success!

Dr. Silva initiated a pilot program for two groups of selected students who attended a Master Class format. The classes had up to 6 students of similar levels and lasted about two and a half hours each session, depending on the number of students attending, repertoire presented and level of student preparation. Focus was on performance practice, technique, historic and stylisic approach, discussions on listening assingnments and other aspects of artist training. Students also received a scheduled private or semi-private lesson every third week (following every two weeks of Master Classes).

This format was successful since students had performance opportunities on a regular basis, learned from the lessons of their peers and benefitted from the group dynamics. As students progress to the level required for the Master Classes, they will be invited to join on an individual basis.
